It is strong enough to lighten skin and it can lead to redness, peeling and scaling of skin that passes after it heals. Often blood transfusions are needed as a part of this procedure.

Laser hair removal works similar to intense pulsed light therapy by a process known as selective photothermolysis.

The laser energy is shined upon the individual’s skin and is selectively absorbed by hair follicles and is transformed into heat energy. The hair follicle dies and the hair falls out.
